Our annual Summer Fair is one of the highlights of the Holgate community calendar. The 2017 Summer Fair was held on Sunday 9th July 2017 and was a roaring success. Over 30 community/charity groups set up pitches for our biggest and best fair yet. The usual favourites were present, including the Golden Railway Brass band to set the tone with a traditional musical backdrop to the afternoon, and the ever popular Miniature Railway which we all love. The bouncy slides, spinning teacups, Climbing Wall, Ice creams and “Have a go” sessions on the Bowling greens were all big hits. The Little Friends of West Bank Park and teamed up with The After School Friends to run a craft zone and woodland trail to hunt for Woody the West Bank Westie and his friends.
Refreshments were provided by 1st Holgate Scouts and tea/coffee were also available in the Bowling Pavilion. The Friends of West Bank Park ran their first ever cake stall selling lots of generously donated cakes and biscuits. The Games Arena in the top field has gone from strength to strength and has rapidly asserted itself as a major attraction in its own right. The Giant Connect 4, Jenga, Quoits, Robot Games and Beat the Goalie are extremely popular. The backdrop of bunting round the field and the rhythmic beats of Billy Hickling’s Junk Percussion workshops through the afternoon gave a family festival-like atmosphere. It was a truly fabulous fair!
Keep your eyes peeled for the details about the next Summer fair…
